The weekend for me usually means a nice strong cup of coffee and a handful of sugar donut holes. Well, when I went to the store today to get some for my hubby I quickly realized there were no Gluten Free counterparts. This meant that I had to venture out on my own to find a recipe for some tasty donuts! I found a great one at and I tweaked it slightly for my own taste reasons!

Here’s what I came up with:

1 1/4 cups Gluten Free Bisquick Pancake Mix

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/3 cup buttermilk

1 egg


Vegetable Oil for frying

Directions: Heat vegetable oil in a pot/pan deep enough to cover the donuts at least half way. I filled mine about 3 inches so that they were covered in oil, but can be less. 

Mix all of the ingredients together, minus the sugar. Once mixed, you can roll the dough into small balls and drop into the oil. You should only drop a few dough balls in at a time or they will stick together. (Test the oil to see if it is warm enough by putting a drop of water or flour in and listen for a sizzle sound. The sizzle means it’s ready.) The dough only needs to cook for 1-2 minutes depending on how hot your oil is. They will become a golden brown when ready. Once they are finished take them out of the pot using a slotted spoon and roll in sugar. Place on aluminum foil and wait for them to cool. 

This can easily be done using a deep fryer as well if you have one available!
